CALI, COLOMBIA - FEBRUARY 17: An urban birdwatching event was held along the banks of the Cali River as part of the Colombia Birdfair on Monday, Feb. 16, bringing residents and international visitors together to observe wildlife in the heart of the city.Organized in Cali, the activity aimed to help participants better understand the region’s biological diversity while encouraging birdwatching as a way to connect with local ecosystems.People gathered along the riversides in the city center, where easy public access and the natural river areas made it possible to watch birds without leaving the city.The event saw strong attendance from both community members and foreign guests, reflecting growing interest in nature-focused activities linked to Colombia’s rich biodiversity.The municipality of Cali, defined by seven rivers and a dense, diverse tree cover, has recorded more than 560 bird species within its city limits.Colombia Birdfair 2026 opened in Cali, highlighting the city’s remarkable avian diversity and drawing birdwatchers, conservationists and nature enthusiasts from across the region.
