Meet Iranian tightrope walker woman who shatters gender stereotypes in her country
TEHRAN, IRAN - APRIL 10: Anadolu Agency Video News (AAVN) camera on Monday (Apr. 10) captured unusual images near Tehran as an Iranian barefoot woman, balancing herself, walked on a tightrope stretched over a valley.The wind on the morning of a spring day made it difficult for Farzaneh Shahsund, but with her warrior and stubborn spirit, she surrendered to the wind that does not give in to inconsistency and continued on her way while the belt swayed.Shahsund is a 30-year-old tightrope walker who started slackline sports five years ago at the university and has become one of the professional athletes in this field in Iran.Shattering gender stereotypes in the Islamic Republic, Farzaneh works hard and dreams of participating in World championships despite risks.She has a bachelor's degree in physical education and also studied biomechanics.“Slackline sports is a balance exercise that strengthens nerve and muscle coordination. It is a sport that gives a person a lot of excitement as opposed to a lot of relaxation, and it requires extreme concentration,” Shahsund said.Farzaneh stated that she met her fiancee, Ali Moghadam while doing slacklining, adding that he was her coach at the university, and helped her a lot to improve her skills.Ali Moghadam, 32, has been active in this field for nearly seven years.
