Film: Anthony Minghella interview; Minghella interview (continued) SOT- Third film in a row that has had great attention / With 'The English Patient' had no expectations for that film and was just glad to make it / Never imagined it would have won nine oscars / 'The English Patient' was life-changing experience / Had won BAFTA awards before but was a much smaller experience / With 'The Talented Mr Ripley' got many nominations, great support and it did better business than 'The English Patient' but it received no awards / The cold chill of not winning is an interesting experience / With hindsight many people have come to prefer 'The Talented Mr Ripley' to 'The English Patient' / Therefore the amount of awards doesn't change the eseence of a film / This time with 'Cold Mountain' feel more snaguine about awards process / Happy the film is getting attention and that people are going to see it / Very proud of 'Cold Mountain' - it's as good a film he could make / Just glad to be allowed to make film he wanted to make which is very rare / Nothing to hide behind and no excuse to make for it
