Capocorb Vell is a talayotic site on Majorca, located about 12 km from Llucmajor, towards Cap Blanc. It is one of the most highly excavated talayotic sites in the Balearic islands. The Talaiotic settlement of Capocorb Vell (Mallorcan Poblat talaiòtic de Capocorb Vell) is an archaeological site of a settlement on the Spanish Balearic island of Majorca, which is part of the Bronze Age Talaiot culture (Talayot culture). It is located near the south coast of the island in the municipality of Llucmajor in the region (Comarca) Migjorn. The exact age of the settlement is not known, it is assumed that it dates from the 12th century BC. The Talaiotic Culture or Talaiotic Period is the name used to describe the society that existed on the Gymnesian Islands (the easternmost Balearic Islands) during the Iron Age. Its origins date from the end of the second millennium BC, when the inaccurately named Pre-Talaiotic Culture underwent a crisis and evolved into the Talaiotic Culture. Its name is derived from the talaiots, which are the most abundant and emblematic structures from the prehistoric period of the Balearic Islands.
