Ukrainian mothers mourn their children killed in Russian attacks on Mother's Day

KYIV, UKRAINE - MAY 8: As families around the world celebrate Mother's Day on May 8, Ukrainian mothers mourn their children killed in Russian attacks.While the war that has been going on for more than two months between Russia and Ukraine has caused serious problems in the country and society, some Ukrainian mothers had to bury their children killed in the attacks with their hands.In addition, some mothers were killed or seriously injured while trying to protect their families and country.Mothers, the people most affected by the war as a social group, demanded an end to conflicts all over the world, especially in Ukraine.Lyudmila Nischenets, a resident living in Irpin, told in tears how her 44-year-old son died during the Russian attacks."Our relatives live in the house next to our home. A (Russian) missile hit their house. My son ran to save his aunt, however, another missile also hit the garden of our house. A piece of the missile hit his head. My son died in my hands. Life has no meaning to me now," she said.Nischenets said she would never have a chance to see her son again, but for other mothers, she wishes their children to survive.Tatyana Donets, another Ukrainian mother, said she is very worried, because, she has not heard from her son and grandson for a long time."Young people, the hope of our future, died in war. The survival of my family is more important than anything else. I don't want mothers to suffer and cry for their children. I wish peace to the whole world," she said.Tatyana Slyusarenko, another mother living in the region, said that they will never forget and will not forgive the disaster that Ukrainian children have suffered. Finally, Ukrainian mothers called on the international community and organizations to end conflicts in the world and establish lasting peace as soon as possible.
