Music: Beth Ditto interview; ***SOME SWEARING DURING INTERVIEW EXCERPT***Part 6 of 7ENGLAND: London:INTBeth Ditto (Singer) interview SOTQ: NOW YOU'VE BECOME KIND OF THE HIGH PRIESTESS FOR LGBTQ PEOPLE- Pretty much / (Laughs) I wouldn't say that, no wayQ: I JUST WONDERED WHAT YOU THOUGHT ABOUT BILLIE EILISH RECENTLY CALLING OUT AN ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE FOR SHE SAID FOR OUTING HER / SHE CRITICISED THEM, SAYING PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT MY SEXUALITY RATHER THAN MY MUSIC / I WONDERED WHETHER YOU SYMPATHISE WITH HER, WHETHER YOU'VE EXPERIENCED THAT YOURSELF- Fair enough, fair enough / I was always happy to talk about it / also, this was twenty years ago, a lot different now / it is different, there is more awareness and visibility / I'm not the kind of person who's like 'music first', I never was / I'm not the kind of person who's like 'man, it's all about the band' / none of us were, it's about a lot of things / it's because I come from a punk scene; I had to be in a project, band or group that encompassed that / but I get if it is / I wanted to be out because I thought it was important to be, that was the community that made me, embraced and those were the people that I wanted to speak to too / I was wanting to give people what I'd been given / if you don't want that, yeah, she's her own person, she should be able to do what she wants / I never got mad about it, I don't really give a shit, people can ask me what they want, I genuinely don't care / but I could understand if she was pissed off about it, if that's her bag, that's her bag / she's cool, she's good at it; there's something about if you are a female person, it's okay for people to approach you about your sexuality and if she feels outed / if someone did that to a man, there would be more sensitivity about it / maybe I'm wrong, actually I shouldn't say that as I don't really know / but it seems people feel fine talking to women about sex.
