BioNTech's vaccine factory 'BioNTainers' arrive in Rwanda

KIGALI, RWANDA - MARCH 13: BioNTech's vaccine factory 'BioNTainers' arrived in Rwanda's capital Kigali on Monday, March 13.Footage shows the plane carrying six BioNTainers landing at the Kigali Airport, where officials were present to welcome the BioNTech team.The company earlier introduced its approach to establishing scalable vaccine production by developing and delivering turnkey mRNA manufacturing facilities based on a container solution.The move is to improve vaccine supply in the African continent.Each BioNTainer is a clean room which BioNTech equips with state-of-the-art manufacturing solutions.The BioNTainer will be equipped to manufacture a range of mRNA-based vaccines targeted to the needs of the African Union member states, for example the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and BioNTech’s investigational malaria and tuberculosis vaccines.
