Blister beetle Insect sitting on jasmine plant during rainy season. - 4K stock video
Blister beetles belong to the family Meloidae and are known for secreting a toxic substance called cantharidin, which can cause blisters on the skin. The adults of these species often feed on flowers from a variety of plants. While the larvae can be beneficial by preying on other insects, a large number of adult blister beetles can be considered pests as they can damage crops by eating flowers. The genus Hycleus is found in Africa and Asia and contains over 400 species.
