California Congressman Mike Thompson says at a news conference on job cuts at the Department of Veterans Affairs that the VA healthcare system provided incredible service and veterans were comfortable there and they were never going to be told that it was too much of a hassle to provide them the healthcare they needed, and they needed to make sure that it was fully staffed and it was incredibly important given the fact that this Congress under democratic control signed by President Biden passed two critical pieces of legislation the PACT Act and the COMPACT Act, it critical to deal with the fact that 22 veterans a day committed suicide and a veteran was 57 percent more apt to commit suicide than a civilian, and when these cuts first started when this President took office in January he had a constituent call him and say when he was troubled and called the hotline it was more important for a person to pick up that phone than to see a doctor.
