Television: Chris McCausland interview; ENGLAND: London: GIR:INTChris McCausland (Comedian) interview SOT- Favourite comedians from the 90s were Alan Davies, Jack Dee, Frank Sinner, Eddie Izzard; comedians who talked about anything and everything, something was funny because it was funny / people want to laugh and a holiday from what you do (reporter laughs)- Thought Strictly could have been a disaster and the chances of that were far higher than it being a success / people can go on it and be the butt of a joke, if I went on it and it didn't go well it was more than that, it could have been a disaster / who wants to see a comedian they feel sorry for, it could have jeopardised that audience- Doesn't usually feel left out visually, but doing Strictly, I'd never felt part of something that was such a machine but so left out of what the experience was / the reason I was there was to show it's possible, more is possible than they'd think / representation is important, but only beneficial if it's positive and good, not if too many allowances are being made to make it work and people can see it's not as good as everybody else / I need to be representing where I'm as good as the person next to me and surprising people / if I can do that on the telly, I'm aware I might be a lot of people's only exposure to somebody blind and disabled / if I can surprise people and challenge, the next time they encounter a blind person maybe they talk to them differently / maybe when someone's recruiting in a company they have a higher expectation of someone with a disability.
