Christine Lagarde endorses Britain's economic policies; ENGLAND: London: Westminster:INTChristine Lagarde (Head of International Monetary Fund - IMF) interview SOT- those countries that have fiscal space and can slow down their fiscal consolidation efforts are very few and I'm afraid Britain is not in that particular group/ the right thing that has been decided by the British government is to let the automatic stabilisers work giving the appropriate level of flexibility - we approve of that approach- (on dangers on unemployment) employment is the target, but employment goes with growth - that's what we are forecasting for the UK- (on lack of collective effort to solve Eurozone Crisis) we call it the 1930's moment risk/ we call on the leaders to take the bold measures collectively and in comprehensive fashion/ requires other countries throughut the world to take action/ I would call 2011 a year of failed starts and half starts, I would hope 2012 can be a year of healing - collective determination to actually do things at all levels- necessary for members of Eurozone to integrate more and better/ clear indications that closer political union is coming/ the threat of the crisis and contagion are sufficient accelerators of the making of history- (on herself and German Chancellor Angela Merkel being women) anything worng with women ahving a little bit of leadership? If it works, the better/
