A sign is held up to the window of the shuttle that reads "HI MOM!" Cut back to Ride in the same position as before. It can be seen that she says "Hi Mom" into the headset, before saying something else and breaking into laughter again. Cut back to same shot of Columbia, where the sign is removed from the window. Cut back to same shot of Ride. The smile recedes from her face and she looks down and seems to be listening to the headset intently. Cut to Ride sitting in the driver's seat in the cockpit of a shuttle simulator, with a man sitting in the passenger seat. He reaches out to a piece of equipment attached to the roof and seems to be explaining something to her.
