PODGORICA, MONTENEGRO-JAN.3: Despite rain and cold weather hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the Government of Montenegro on Friday evening, January 3, demanding the resignation of the country’s political and security leadership following a deadly shooting in Cetinje on January 1.The protest was sparked by the massacre in which 45-year-old Aco Martinović killed 12 people, including two children, after a confrontation at a local bar. The victims were primarily targeted in the Bajice area of Cetinje before Martinović took his own life. The incident has deeply shocked the Montenegrin public, leading to widespread outrage.Demonstrators carried signs bearing messages such as “Your hands are bloody,” “Your system is rotten,” and “12 minutes of silence.” Chants of “murderers, come outside” and “resignations” echoed in the streets of Podgorica. Jelena Doderović, a tearful protester, said she was standing up for her children and for all citizens, condemning the state’s failure to protect its people.Nikola Milić, another protester, highlighted the deep emotional toll the massacre had on Montenegrins.
