Major General David Eastman is interviewed on the Duke of Edinburgh's role as Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Cadet Force and the legacy he has left.

Duke of Edinburgh death: GVs of army cadets taking part in funeral preparations; Part 1 of 2ENGLAND: Surrey: Camberley:EXTMajor General David Eastman (British Army officer) interview SOT- This is our headquarters, cadet training centre / also train master cadets, not been possible over last 12 months / the Duke of Edinburgh was appointed as Colonel-in-Chief in 1953 and has been ever since, close connection / in 1959 we piloted the DofE Award / cadets are fulfilling colonel in chief's ambition / he's visited a few times, 2008 was the 50th anniversary / level of knowledge and understanding was very impressive, also presented our banners / it was a huge honour to have him as our colonel in chief, to hold appointment for 68 years, contacted us every year, deeply interested, makes this such a sad occasion / because he's played such a big part, aim was that organisations would be able to pay respects, try and commemorate him / this is such a fabulous organisation, army cadets tend to gain in confidence, better mental and physical wellbeing, his legacy will live on.
