TUC Congress: Ed Miliband gives speech; ENGLAND: Dorset: Bournemouth:INT *** WARNING SOME FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY ***Ed Miliband MP (Labour Leader) on to platform and seated during announcements SOT / Ed Miliband MP (Labour Leader) speech SOT- What a pleasure it is to be here at the TUC congress today- I want to pay tribute to the all-female combination we have of the President and your new General Secretary- Frances, you have fought all your working life to help working people- You're doing an outstanding job as the TUC's first female leader - It is right on these occasions to remember those who have gone before- I want to pick out one individual- In a speech he gave he talked about the voices of Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds were going unheard in British politics- He talked about that march in central London- I come here to pay tribute to the Conservative Prime Minister of 1867, the 14th Earl of Derby, the longest serving ever leader of the Tory Party- He first legislated to allow trade unions in this country- His real name, Edward Stanley or as he would be known today, Red Ed [laughter]- He was succeeded by Disraeli- They were one nation Conservatives- They thought the Tories had to represent the whole country
