That's the end of an era. Today marks the beginning of a new era, a new industry for Britain, carbon capture and storage essential for hard to abate sectors like cement, creating thousands of good jobs across the country.We're uniquely well placed as a country to benefit from this because of the North Sea and so it's such an important investment for Britain and it's a government.Willing to invest in the future of our country. It's a really important signal from the chancellor.Q: You've been describing this as a new era, but this is something that you were announcing back in the 2000s when you were last in government?- If only we'd stayed in government, announced the first carbon capture and storage competition in 2009, unfortunately was cancelled by the last government and I think (Reporter: but then re-announced relatively recently with with the money over a shorter time frame), re-announced and not completed and not properly budgeted for. That's the difference. We've reached commercial terms with industry. We've specified the amount of money, the projects we're going to be funding. It's actually going to happen. And this is a sign of this government's determination that when it comes to driving forward on these issues, when it comes to building the future for Britain, we're going to do it we're not going to talk about it. We're actually going to do it we were elected just less than three months ago. We've lifted the wind ban consented, solar had the most successful renewables auction in history, and now we're driving forward with a new industry for Britain .Q: Not everyone shares your enthusiasm.
