Edris Rice-Wray Carson, who was involved in clinical trials in Puerto Rico for the contraceptive (birth control) pill, remembers working in Puerto Rico in family planning clinics: 'So I always had a little box behind me with the various methods in it and we would bring them out and show them... this is a condom and this is a suppository and this a diaphragm and I'll explain to you how you put it in...
