Do you accept the Brabin report?) I accept that Evans did not kill his baby Geraldine, but I also feel that he did also not kill his wife Beryl. (Briefly Mr Kennedy, why do you still feel that Evans did not murder his wife Beryl?) Yes there are a number of reasons, I think the two most important are that his so-called 'confessions' to the Notting Hill police on which his guilt or innocence hinges is something which Mr Justice Brabin hasn't really seriously investigated and he particularly hasn't investigated the conduct of the police. He's very keen to say somebody is lying or somebody's memory is failing but as far as the police are concerned he's prepared to accept everythign they say. I am not prepared to accept everything that they say. On the second point, Evan's second Wales statement was an elaborate story of how Christie had come to him saying he could have bought his wife and he had discovered his wife dead, it was a story of enormous circumstantial detail, I don't believe that Evans, with his limited intelligence, although he was a liar, was capable of lying in such detail with such a wealth of circumstance and moreover remembering everything he'd said and repeating word-for-word in his trial.'
