Tahiti Bounty 1960
TAHITI - 1960: Footage of the ship Bounty, a full-scale replica of the 18th-century sailing vessel built between 1960 and 1961 for the film Mutiny on the Bounty (1962). Unlike the original, the replica was equipped with engines but remained the first life-sized reconstruction of a historic sailing ship made specifically for a movie. The ship was later used in other films, for charter cruises, and as a museum vessel. It sank off Cape Hatteras during Hurricane Sandy on October 29, 2012, resulting in the loss of two crew members.
