Peru's Former President Vizcarra released after 3-week detention
LIMA, PERU — SEPT. 4, 2025: Former Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra left the Barbadillo prison in Lima on Thursday, Sept 4, after a three weeks in pretrial detention.His release came a day earlier after an appeals court ruled he did not pose a flight risk.Vizcarra is accused of accepting 2.3 million soles worth of bribes when he was governor of the southern region of Moquegua from 2011-2014.(Footage by Klebher Vasquez/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
