Georgia Congressman and Former Pharmacist Buddy Carter says at a news conference on reforms aimed at pharmacy benefit managers contained in a FY26 consolidated appropriations package passed by Congress the day before that they needed to make sure they understood how this worked with vertical integration where the insurance company owned the pharmacy benefit manager, the group purchasing organization, the pharmacy and the doctor, noting who the largest employer of physicians in America was United Healthcare which employed 9 percent of all physicians in America which was a problem.
