Diving expedition in Red Sea observes rich marine life and historic wreck

RED SEA, EGYPT-NOV.27: A group of 26 divers from Türkiye embarked on a six-day diving expedition in the Red Sea, exploring the diverse marine life and coral reefs off the coast of Egypt.The team, which set out from Hurghada, visited eight different dive sites, witnessing a wide range of underwater species, from large marine mammals to smaller fish and unique coral formations.The Red Sea, located between Africa and Asia, is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and is considered a prime destination for both scientific research and diving tourism.Egypt's coastline along the Red Sea features notable dive spots such as Abu Dabbab, Daedalus Reefs, Elphinstone, Marsa Alam, Safaga, Big Brother, and Little Brother, attracting thousands of divers annually.During their dives, the Turkish team observed numerous species, including manta rays, green sea turtles, spotted rays, and dolphins.They also encountered several types of sharks, such as hammerhead sharks, spinner sharks, and white-tipped reef sharks. Smaller marine life observed included pufferfish, angelfish, clownfish, moray eels, scorpionfish, and lionfish.In addition to the rich marine life, the team explored the Red Sea’s vibrant coral reefs, studying various species including honeycomb and fire corals, as well as red cup and soft corals.
