Dedicated Turkish women give beekeeping a ‘colour’ with their flashy pink outfits

VAN, TÜRKİYE - SEPTEMBER 19: A group of dedicated women in eastern Türkiye wearing protective pink outfits add beekeeping profession a new “colour” with their charming fashionable style.20 women from Artos Women Agricultural Development Cooperative have been producing honey in the Gevas district of Van province, aiming to increase women's involvement in honey production and encouraging their fellows to work.“The main focus of our projects is to provide more opportunities for women and offer our organic product to the market.’ said Artos Women Agricultural Development Cooperative President, Songul Gulec on Tuesday (Sept. 19), stating their stance on encouraging women in workplaces.Further, she indicated that beekeeping passed down from her father, adding that she has found peace and happiness in beekeeping.Addition to Gulec, Elanur Sumer, one of the beekeeper women mentioned that she started beekeeping because of her family’s encouragement, taking over the job from her family.She also pointed out why they wear pink, saying “We see white masks (beekeeping protective outfit) everywhere, we wanted to be different as women for that we created our pink masks and we wish to increase the number of our pink masks (women beekeepers) and people will see pink mask women everywhere.”Another woman, fashion and design student Nermin Oktu stated that she uses bee patterns on her fashion projects. Oktu explained her passion for bees, saying “It is a bit hot under the mask, apart from that it is delightful. Bees working, the sound of their wings are making is quite enjoyable for me.
