RUSHES: Harrison Ford interview

Harrison Ford interview; Part 1 of 4ENGLAND: London:INTHarrison Ford (Actor) interview SOTQ: ON WHY HE DECIDED TO TAKE ROLE IN THE FUGITIVE- Well, I read a very good script / it was a very good skeleton of a film that I thought would be very audience friendly / I had a real strong emotional reaction to the characters as I was reading it, and that's what I really look for, that's my hook; emotion / that's what you use to draw the audience into the film / although this film has a lot of action, it has a lot of emotion too, which is unusual for an action filmQ: HOW CLOSE WAS IT TO THE TV SERIES- I haven't a clue as I never saw the television series / I was in college at the time and wasn't watching a lot of television / when I chose to do this picture it seemed to me to make no sense to see what David Janssen had done before / our story takes place thirty years beyond the story Janssen was telling / it's a different world, it's a different character; so it really didn't seem to have much reference to what I was doingQ: DID YOU HELP CHOOSE PRODUCTION LOCATIONS FOR THIS FILM- Well I'm a nag, and I hang about and make suggestions / I'm very interested in the overall quality of the production / it's my face that they blame it on if they don't have a good time at the theatre / because all of the efforts of film-making are towards story telling; location, art direction / so all of those things are part and parcel of our team effort to make a good movie / I'm just a member of the team, but I use whatever influence I can to steer it in the direction I think is right / it's open to debate, it's a collaborative enterprise, an exercise in responsibility.
