Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz says continuing a floor speech about wildfires that devastated Lahaina town on Maui that members of Congress had witnessed the devastation firsthand, and colleagues from both sides of the aisle had offered assistance, however, it will take years for Maui to fully recover given the extensive losses, with help needed from Congress in the coming months, including support for finding permanent housing for the over 5,000 displaced residents, the reconstruction of healthcare clinics and schools, and ensuring access to clean drinking water and wastewater treatment.
