Qinghai Province, Mangya City, Lenghu Town, Heidu Mountain is located in the western branch of the Qilian Mountains. The mountain body is covered with black gravel layers, and the wind-eroded gullies are densely distributed, resembling carved by a knife. From a distance, it looks like an ink wash painting. Due to its "three-void environment" - no vegetation, no water bodies, and no artificial traces - it is regarded as the landscape on Earth that is closest to the surface of the moon, and has become a landmark scenic spot for ecological tourism and geological research. The formation of Heidu Mountain is the result of the combined effects of geological tectonic movements, volcanic activities and extreme climates. It mainly went through three stages: the foundation stage of volcanic eruptions in the Ordovician period, the stage of tectonic uplift and exposure in the Cenozoic era, and the stage of extreme wind erosion and sculpting. The Heidu Mountain Scenic Area has officially opened to the public since May 21, 2025.Since its opening, there has been a continuous stream of visitors, and related reports have been constantly appearing on the Chinese Internet.
