U.S. House Representatives Ron Dellums (D-CA) and Louis Stokes (D-OH) speaking to media on the U.S. invasion of Grenada. Rep. Dellums states reasons why his opposition to the invasion of Grenada remains; the inquiry is not complete. There are questions that cannot be answered about the invasion, due to conflicts between the role of a free and independent press and the right of a military person preventing access or dissemination of information to the American public independent from influence of the federal government. As an advocate of peace, Rep. Dellums has not yet been able to determine if this military action was one of last resort, or a "method of preference". Rep. Dellums asks, against the backdrop of two objectives established by the President, did those objective have efficacy, and were there alternatives to achieving those objectives? Were those objectives listed, assessed, and fully evaluated? If the answer is, in full or part, no, then the question is why were the alternatives not explored?
