Congressman McCarthy welcomes Van Drew, disaffected Democrats to Republican Party after defection

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy of California tells reporters a day after impeachment articles were adopted against President Donald Trump that Republicans were excited to have New Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drew and welcome anybody who believed the New Democrat Socialist Party had left them behind, saying while many members in the past had joined the other side of the aisle he cannot remember a time when somebody left a majority party to join the minority party so the premise of a reporter's question should be put to Democrats as to how they could be excited to start the process thinking the outcome would be better in the room conference actually got smaller.
