House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana says answering a reporter question at a news conference the morning of day 30 of a government shutdown that Senate counterpart John Thune let Democrats have it the day before because they were trying to play games and they were just fed up with it, and he's a very even tempered calm guy and he tried to maintain the same demeanor but it's infuriating to them, and Thune probably recognized it's a futile effort and he realized they're dug in and they don't care, and they're more afraid of the Marxist socialist far left in the party than they are the harm that they're going to cause the American people.
