South Carolina Resident Records Drifting 'Island of Trees' as Hurricane Dorian Causes Damage

Hurricane Dorian brought destruction to South Carolina on September 5, with residents reporting damaged homes, flooded roads, and downed trees. Brandon Barclay, a resident of Pawleys Island, shared this footage from his North Litchfield Beach neighborhood. He told Storyful he stayed at home as Hurricane Dorian hit the area, while his wife and four-year-old daughter stayed with his parents in Myrtle Beach. "I had been managing water all day and I was taking a break from being outside in the storm when I noticed an entire small forest of trees somewhere they where not supposed to be," Barclay told Storyful. He said he witnessed two "islands" of trees floating down the body of water outside his home, which is known locally as Flag Pond. Hurricane Dorian moved towards North Carolina on Thursday night. By 8 pm, the hurricane' strongest winds had dipped down to 100 mph, an advisory from the National Hurricane Center https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPAT5+shtml/060008.shtml said . The storm was reported to be moving northeast at 10 mph. (Footage By Brandon Barclay/Storyful via Getty Images)
