An adult male Thai red junglefowl (Gallus gallus) displays the species’ classic plumage while feeding near human habitation. The bird shows a vivid red comb and wattles, rich orange and chestnut hackle and saddle feathers, and elongated iridescent black tail sickles with green sheen. The strong grey legs and sharp claws reflect a fully mature, wild specimen adapted for ground foraging. This coloration and structure are defining traits of the ancestral form from which all domesticated chickens originated.
