Israeli soldiers attack on Anadolu Agency cameramen in Nablus, West Bank

NABLUS, PALESTINE - FEBRUARY 11:Israeli forces on Friday (Feb. 11) assaulted journalists covering Palestinians’ protest in the Beita town of Nablus, the north of the West Bank.The moments of the attack on the members of Anadolu Agency team, Enes Canli and Issam Rimawi, were captured by a camera.Anadolu Agency photojournalist Mohammad Dahlan sustained shrapnel injures from an Israeli missile attack on the Gaza Strip on May 19, 2021.Turgut Alp Boyraz, the agency's MENA news editor, was shot twice by Israeli police in two separate incidents while covering events in Jerusalem.Boyraz, a veteran journalist with eight years of experience with the agency, was shot in the foot with a plastic bullet on May 7 while covering a raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque's Haram al-Sharif in occupied East Jerusalem. On May 10, he was shot in the leg with two rubber bullets in another Israeli police raid on the flashpoint mosque.Correspondent Esat Firat, who has worked for the agency since 2016, and two photographers were also targeted in the past and ongoing week.Fayez Abu Rumaila, an Anadolu Agency photojournalist in occupied East Jerusalem since 2018, was attacked by Israeli occupation forces while covering clashes at the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex.Between 2000 and 2020, Israeli forces killed more than 46 journalists, according to a tally by the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate. In 2019, they also targeted Anadolu Agency's office. In more recent attacks, they destroyed a media center with offices of the Associated Press, Al Jazeera, and local journalists.
