Italy, Rome, Palatine Hill, Facade of Domitian's Palace and Circus Maximus - HD stock video
Daylight, HA, PAN on the circus from east to west, view from the Palatine Hill. The curving facade of the Domus Augustana faced the Circus Maximus. The Circus was used for chariot races. The earliest installations date from the reign of the Etruscan king Tarquin Priscus (7th-6th centuries BC), but construction proper began in 329 BC. The Circus had a capacity of 320,000 spectators, making it the biggest building for public spectacles of all time.
