JORDAN: City of mosaics aims world record with historic King’s road

AMMAN, JORDAN - NOVEMBER 17: Jordan's Medeba city which is renowned for its mosaics aims a world record.Inspired by Medeba's location and history, Samir at-Tival, President of Medeba Tourism Development and Heritage Preservation Association, launched a project eight years ago to reflect the historical texture of Jordan with a 180 square meter mosaic works called "King's Road" to make the city even more attractive.Built with marbles and granites, the mosaic is a 6-meter-high, 30-meter-long mosaic panel consisting of two million stones.“As the President of the Association, came up with the idea of ​​creating the world’s largest mosaic panel in 2013. We aim for Medeba to enter the Guinness Book of Records with this work as a mosaic and tourism city,” he said.He stated that the project has been supported by the Queen of Jordan Rania al-Abdullah and 120 visitors.Aliye Masarva, an official from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the construction of the monument was supported by the Ministry due to the cultural heritage and historical importance of Medeba.Masarva stated that that the Ministry of Tourism attaches great importance to Medeba Visitor Center where the work was placed as it has been one of the first places to visit in the city.He emphasized that Medeba has an important potential for tourism with its historical and cultural values.
