Kansas Congressman Ron Estes says during House Ways and Means Committee consideration of a resolution of inquiry that would request the Trump Administration to furnish certain information to the House of Representatives relating to the operations of the Social Security Administration since the second Trump inaugural including information on the Department of Government Efficiency's access to the Social Security Administration that they wanted to ensure good customer service, noted problems discovered with processing itself as the Social Security Administration's Inspector General Office found $72 billion in improper payments between 2015 and 2022, mentioned the previous administration's attempt to forgive and stop calculating bad payments to improve their record, and emphasized that President Trump repeatedly stated he would fight for, protect, and not cut Social Security, with House Republicans standing with him to preserve and protect benefits. The measure was later ordered adversely reported to the House in a partyline 24-18 vote.
