Senator Paul calls broad definition of lynching a disgrace that would demean memory of victims
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul says in asking for expedited passage of the Emmett till antilynching act to remember the murders of Till, Raymond Gunn, Sam Hose and thousands of others whose lives were destroyed by the barbarity of the lynch mob, but the bill would expand the meaning of lynching to include any bodily injury, or abrasion of bruise, physical pain or illness no matter how temporary, but words had meeting and it would be a disgrace for Congress to declare a bruise was a lynching on par with the atrocities done the people like Till, Gunn and Hose who were killed for no reason then that they were black, to do so would demean the memory and cheapen the historic and horrific legacy of lynching in the United States.
