LOOKING BACK.- Actor Omar Sharif turns 80
Madrid, 10 abr (EFE).- Egyptian actor and 1960's Hollywood heartthrob Omar Sharif turns 80 on Tuesday. It was in 1962 when director David Lean chose Sharif to play the role of an Arab prince in the now classic film "Lawrence of Arabia", the winner of seven Oscars. Three years later, and long after conquering the Egyptian screen, Sharif was jolted to world fame for his role alongside Julie Christie in "Doctor Zhivago", for which Sharif won a Golden Globe as best actor, but none of the five Oscars "Zhivago" took at the Academy Awards that year. Sharif appeared in more than 100 films during his 60-year-long career. LOOKING BACK.- Actor Omar Sharif turns 80 on April 13, 2012 in Madrid, Spain (Footage by EFE/Getty Images)
