Crown Prince Felipe remarks the absence of Nicanor

Madrid (Spain), 20 April (EFE).- Spanish Crown Prince Felipe remarked during the traditional official luncheon of the Cervantes Award the absece of his father, King Juan Carlos, due to his accident in Botswana and also the absence of the award-winner, Chilean poet Nicanor Parra due to a severely rheumatic ailment. Prince Felipe praised the "brightness" of the anti-poetry written by Nicanor Parra that has fed "from the popular and written tradition" which symbolizes "Sancho Panza and Don Quixote with their use of the language, which is popular, graceful and smart". The daughter of Nicanor Parra, Colombina Parra and his grandson Cristobal Ugarte Parra attended the traditional launch among other personalities such as princess Letizia and Peruvian writter Mario Vargas Llosa. The Cervantes Award is given annually to honour the lifetime achievement of an outstanding writer in the Spanish language.
