Members of a Japan Ground Self-Defense Force unit based in Hokkaido Prefecture have shown off their icy construction skills by molding together a 13-meter-tall replica of a famed temple entirely out of ice and snow in Sapporo.Video was shot on February 5, 2017, Japan. The team of 123 members spent a month replicating the Chukondo hall of Kofukuji temple in Nara out of 4,500 frozen pieces made from enough snow to fill the beds of 600 5-ton trucks. Measuring 22 meters in width and 21 meters in depth, the ice temple forms part of the Sapporo Snow Festival, a popular tourist draw.
