Memorial service held for late German football coach Christoph Daum in Cologne

COLOGNE, GERMANY - SEPTEMBER 12: A memorial service for the late German football coach Christoph Daum took place at Cologne's RheinEnergie Stadium on Thursday (September 12). Ali Koc, the president of the Turkish football team Fenerbahce, also attended the remembrance ceremony. German Football League (DFL) on August 25 confirmed the death of Christoph Daum from lung cancer at the age of 70. "German football is in mourning after the death of Christoph Daum. The former Bundesliga-winning coach has died at the age of 70 from long-term cancer," the league said in a statement. Daum lifted the Bundesliga title in 1992 with Stuttgart and the Austrian League title in 2003 with Austria Wien. In 2003-2006, he was the head coach at Istanbul’s Fenerbahce and helped the team clinch two consecutive Turkish league titles, in 2004 and 2005. The German legend also claimed the 1995 league championship with Istanbul's Besiktas. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2022.
