An exhibition honours aztecs and their cult of dea

Mexico, 20 April (EFE).- Up to 900 skulls made of paper, wood and metal represent the cult and the worship to death that ancient Aztecs used to practice. This is the work that artist Manuel Marin has presented at the Mexican capital. The exhibition called 'Tzompantli Mayor' has the reference of the altar made of skulls and that they used to reunite martirs with gods. To create each skull, Manuel Marin made 25 different basic structures to precise volume and space giving them a different form later. THE ANCIENT AZTECS THOUGHT THE SOUL COULD GO TO THREE DIFFERENT PLACES; THOSE WHO DIED DUE TO ANY WATER PROBLEM, OTHER BECAUSE THEY DIED OLD OR DUE TO A DISEASE, BUT THOSE WHO DIED AT AN HEROIC ACT OR IN ANY PRIVILEGED WAY WOULD ACCOMPANY THE SUN. THE SKULL OF THESE INDIVIDUALS, WHO WHERE GENERALLY SACRIFICED, WAS PLACED AT THIS WALL.
