Advocate says drug testing data shows increased impairment risks and emphasizes protecting school and public transportation safety

National Drug and Alcohol Screening Association Executive Director Jo McGuire says at a news conference on the potential dangers of rescheduling marijuana from a Schedule 1 to a Schedule 3 drug and the need for the Department of Transportation to maintain drug testing for certain occupations that drugs and safety do not mix and that every day she wants assurance that children on school buses and cars on freeways were not at risk from drivers under the influence of marijuana, noting that since states began legalizing marijuana there has been an increase in post-accident positives for THC and for the first time greater cause-testing positives than pre-employment positives, calling on Congress to learn from history before these alarming trends worsen.
