National Mobilization Committee leader David Dellinger talking to reporter "Since 3:00 yesterday afternoon, we've been making an emergency effort to see the Mayor because obviously there is an emergency situation in which we've been denied any meaningful place to protest, in fact been told that we couldn't meet and march and rally during the time the convention actually is taking place, let alone near it. Therefore we called this emergency to the Mayor s attention after months of trying to work out amicable arrangements with him. We've been told that the Mayor is very busy, that the Deputy Mayor is very busy, and that they can t see us. We believe that the Mayor and the other officials are supposed to be servants of the people not overlords of the people. Reporter, "When did they say they could see you?" National Mobilization Committee leader David Dellinger, "We have received no offer to see the Mayor at any time. We've been told that we could see the Deputy Mayor Monday morning. However, we've already talked with the Deputy Mayor and it s been very unsatisfactory. Our reason for wanting to talk to the Deputy Mayor at all is simply to press the emergency and to press our case for meeting with the Mayor."
