New Mexico Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez says at an evening news conference outside the House chamber moments before a Rules Committee meeting to prepare a procedural rule for debate the next day on legislation to end a government shutdown that Republicans could make health care more affordable for a father and his children but they were willing to pay themselves millions of dollars, and it was true they only lost the fight if they gave up the fight, and Democrats had been fighting Republicans in a long struggle to provide health care to Americans as they had been fighting Republicans when they created Medicare when they created Medicaid when they created the affordable Care Act and they were not going to give up that fight because they wanted all Americans to be able to have health care.
