Explosion Rocks Building in Manhattan
New York police and firefighters were responding to reports of a large explosion in East Harlem on March 12. Pedro Ramirez said he captured this video five minutes after the explosion. He lives in front of the building, which reportedly collapsed. Authorities closed 116th Street from Fifth Avenue to Lexington Avenue, according to The New York Times. The footage was taken from Park Avenue between 116th and 117th. It shows a police car cordoning off the road, leading toward the site of the explosion on 116th. FDNY confirmed the explosion in Harlem on Twitter and posted a photo which pictures the same overground train tracks that are visible on the left side of Ramirez's video.
