Gloria Stuart Comparing James Cameron to Other Directors She Worked With
Gloria Stewart: No, because James had been an actor, John Ford had not. James Cameron was closer to James Whale, who did “The Invisible Man,” “The Old Dark House,” and so forth, because James Whale had been an actor. And for an actor, to have an actor directing, at least they know what they want and they know how to tell you what they want. I didn’t get much acting direction from John Ford. He liked me and he used me a couple of times, but there wasn’t very much – what should I say? – Interpretation on his part of what he wanted.
