One of Japan’s largest hanging scrolls, titled “Hasedera Principal Image Sacred Portrait Grand Kannon Scroll,” is unveiled at Hasedera temple on April 1 in Sakurai in Nara. Measuring 16.5 meters tall, 6.2 meters wide and weighing 125.5 kilograms, the scroll is displayed on a slanted platform inside the main lecture hall of the temple’s main quarters.
