Passersby Stop to Help Woman Deliver Baby on Rainy Roadside

Passersby stopped to help a woman in labor on a busy roadway in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia, in August. Video from Syarifah Munawwarah shows her, seen in the video in a grey headscarf, and several other people helping the woman through delivery as she lay in the median, shielded by umbrellas. 'When I stopped at a red traffic light, I saw an Indian man asking for help. As soon as I rolled down my window, I heard him calling me to assist a woman who was in labour,' Munawwarah told Storyful. 'I immediately got out of my car and went to the roadside near the traffic light. The woman was already pushing, and the baby was halfway delivered. Together with another Indian woman, I helped to safely receive the baby so that the newborn would not be hurt on the hard tar road surface.' Munawwarah said an ambulance arrived around a half hour later to take the mother and baby to receive care.
