CBS Cancels "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" Ending Late Night Franchise
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JULY 18: People walk past the Ed Sullivan Theater, where the 'Late Show" is recorded live, as it stands in midtown Manhattan on July 18, 2025 in New York City. Calling it a financial decision, CBS announced that it will end "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and retire "The Late Show" franchise in May 2026. Colbert has been a long-time critic of President Donald Trump and recently criticized Paramount's decision to settle a lawsuit with Mr. Trump for $16 million over the editing of a "60 Minutes" interview with then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
