I think that when an event of this nature occurs we begin to look for a scapegoat in someway to release our guilt and burden someone with it. I think the first step in reaching out towards the potential of the city is to acknowledge that we are responsible ourselves for nourishing a climate in which these kind of events seem to occur again and again. - Q. Oswald was a Communist, can guilt be attached to a Right Wing community? Well you look at the life of Oswald - we see first of all a man living his life in loneliness and apparently in a king of ostracism from our society, therefore all of us have responsibilities for this type of reaction to our democracy, just as in perhaps we all have not only a stake but also a personal responsibility in emotional disturbances, but this is a problem not just an isolated individual but of our society, because it interacts upon itself and all the persons involved. So I don't think we can beg off, by saying 'well he was a left wing extremist instead of a right winger', the truth is I think all of us in our attitude and in our words from time to time have dealt more with personality of the President, not only this President but those who preceded him. We really are bringing to attack somewhat unconsciously the office of the President and the authority which this represents in our country. And one of my biggest concerns is what we are doing to our children when we ridicule again and again as a way of life the highest office which we have to bestow in our country.
